Gray Baynes and Shew have been working with Winchester College on the internal refurbishment of communal and circulation spaces in Flint Court and Nobo Cloister. We were tasked with creating an appropriate impression of the space that complements existing historic interior, whilst adding a modern feel to the tired dark space it once was. We did this with a carefully co-ordinated interior design solution to bring colour and light in to the space by introducing new LED fittings and ceilings into the spaces, giving them a new lease of life for years to come. 

Prior to this during Summer 2019, we worked closely with the client to create an “exemplar classroom”. These classrooms were used to get an appropriate impression of the space and design. It is then being reviewed, so the design sets the precedent for subsequently refurbished classrooms throughout the College. The Classrooms has been refitted with new furniture, fixings, acoustic panels and carpets to complement the existing historic interior.
