ABOUT CHAWLEY PARK

The office reorganisation project was aimed at efficiently accommodating between 60 and 90 personnel across two floors, catering to the specific needs of four different departments within the organisation. The design of the office spaces needed to balance both functional requirements and the need for a collaborative work environment, ensuring that each department could work efficiently while fostering clear communication and interaction among team members.

To achieve this, the layout was planned around an open-plan design, which is increasingly favoured for its ability to enhance transparency and interaction. The open-plan approach allowed for flexibility in the use of space, providing an adaptable work environment that could be easily reconfigured to meet future needs. Each of the four departments was assigned its own clearly defined zone within the open-plan layout, ensuring that the distinct functions of each department were maintained while encouraging collaboration across departmental boundaries.

The zoning was carefully delineated using a combination of glazed screens and partitions, which created visual separation between different areas without sacrificing the open, airy feel of the overall space. These glass partitions allowed for natural light to flow throughout the office, helping to maintain an open and bright environment that is conducive to productivity. Additionally, the transparent screens provided a sense of openness, enabling employees to see and communicate with colleagues across the office, while still creating the necessary divisions between departments.

While the open-plan layout was central to the design, privacy and focused work were also important considerations. To address this, the plan included cellular offices and meeting rooms that were integrated into the overall layout. These enclosed spaces were strategically placed throughout the office, offering employees the option to retreat into private areas for more focused work or confidential meetings. The combination of open-plan zones and private offices ensured that the office met both the needs for collaborative work and the necessity for individual concentration.

The ground floor of the office was dedicated to the reception area, which was designed to make a welcoming first impression. This space was intended to not only serve as a functional entry point but also as a reflection of the company’s identity. The reception area was designed with careful attention to detail, providing a professional and modern appearance that set the tone for the rest of the building. It also featured easy access to other parts of the office, ensuring smooth circulation between different areas of the building.

On the first floor, a staff area was created to provide a space for employees to relax and recharge. This area included a kitchen and a lunchroom, both of which were key elements of the design aimed at promoting employee well-being and creating a comfortable environment for breaks. The kitchen and lunchroom were designed to encourage social interaction among employees while offering a functional space for preparing meals and enjoying lunch. This area contributed to the overall balance between work and relaxation within the office, offering a dedicated space for employees to unwind during the workday.

In conclusion, the office reorganisation was carefully planned to create a balance between open-plan spaces for collaboration and private areas for focused work. The use of glazed partitions, cellular offices, and meeting rooms allowed for flexibility, ensuring that each department had its own identity while still fostering communication. The inclusion of dedicated staff areas such as the kitchen and lunchroom further supported the comfort and well-being of employees, creating a dynamic and efficient workspace for all personnel.
