We were appointed by Corpus Christi in March 2014 to carry out a refurbishment of Beam Hall, a 15th century hall on the north side of Merton Street. The building, Listed Grade II*, has been subjected to a number of alterations since the 17th century and this has included cement mortar pointing and cement render to the dormers. The refurbishment works included replacement of the Cotswold stone roof slating, improved insulation with careful consideration of the impact on interstitial condensation, renovation of the windows, cleaning of the stone facades, new entry control system etc. The works were programmed to complete within the summer recess, a critical timescale for the college. This was successfully achieved by excellent teamwork with all parties including the client side and with project management by our own surveyors.
